Bridges

Bridges are used to replace missing teeth. Existing teeth are used and crowns are joined together in one unit and literally bridge over the area where teeth are missing.
The procedure of a bridge is precisely the same as crowns, although more teeth are involved. The teeth are prepared, impressions taken and sent to the lab which then makes the bridge. The following week the bridge will be cemented on the existing teeth and you will have a brand new tooth where one was missing before. Bridges are permanent replacements which restore the teeth and proper biting relationship between the upper and lower teeth.
Consultation with Dr. Halberstadt is essential because bridges are not a viable option in all circumstances. In order for a bridge to be successful, there must be a tooth present on either side of the space. Additionally, those teeth must be fairly solid with good long term prognosis in order to support a bridge and have longevity.
