TMJ treatment

Many people suffer from problems involving their TMJ (temperomandibular joint). These problems can include, but not be limited to, soreness in the joint, limited opening, tenderness in the jaw muscles, or clicking in the jaw. Unexplained headaches and earaches can also be the result of TMD (disease involving TMJ).

The temperomandibular joint is the name for the entire complex of muscles, ligaments, and cartilage responsible for opening and closing of our jaws. The most common causes of TMD involve clenching or grinding of the teeth. Other issues arise from trauma or bite problems as well as a myriad of other possible issues.

Treatment of TMD can be complex depending on the cause. Dr. Halberstadt will provide you with a complete assessment and diagnose the situation and prescribe the appropriate treatment. These treatments can involve a simple nightguard to protect the teeth or bite reconstruction.
